The Washington Monument & The Neighborhood it Created
Prints, Drawings & Paintings
In June of 1985, Gregory Weidman and Michael Flanigan were married here at Emmanuel. Soon after, they began decorating their home in Bolton Hill with views of Baltimore. What began as a sideline to fill a few holes in the walls has grown to hundreds of prints, photos, and paintings of our city. Culled from their collection, which now covers four floors and almost every inch of available wall space, are views of the Washington Monument and the surrounding Mt. Vernon neighborhood. The artworks were collected with no eye to quality or rarity but rather their perspective. Every artist looking at a building or landscape must choose a vantage point that best expresses their perspective to the viewer. You now have the opportunity to view our neighborhood from the many vantages and views these artists chose, and we hope you will see many of these places in a new light.
