"Who are you?"
"How are you?"
"Is it well with your soul?"
I was reminded in a rich conversation with colleagues recently that the three questions we all need to ask one another are these. They have to do with how we care for one another as a community of faith, specifically as members of Emmanuel.  In the midst of the annual giving time in our congregation I often fall into the trap of thinking that what we give has everything to do with what we have. It doesn't.
It has everything to do with who we are as God's beloved children, as people who love each other in the name of Christ. The real stewardship questions, the ones I need to ask you and myself are these, who are you, how are you, is it well with your soul?
All that I have in the end is what God has given me. All that I have to give is myself.
